Domain holder verification
Domain Name Verification under the NIS 2 Regulation
Have you received a request to verify your holder data?
In accordance with DENIC's domain terms and conditions and guidelines, all domain holders are required to provide the following information, which must be accurate and up to date:
- Full name (for legal entities, including legal form)
- Current postal address
- Telephone number and email address
Risk-based data verification
As part of the registration and administration of .de domains, the owner data provided is automatically checked for completeness and plausibility. If discrepancies are found, additional verification may be required.
Verification via your provider
In this case, the domain holder must have the data provided verified via their provider so that the domain can continue to be used without restriction.
Step by step: What you need to do
Check data with your provider
Check that your name (including legal form), address, telephone number, and email address are complete and up to date. Verification is not carried out automatically by DENIC directly, but by your responsible DENIC member (provider).
Only your provider can make the necessary corrections and send the verified data to us. If in doubt, please contact your provider directly.
Correct and verify information
Submit the necessary documentation to your provider (e.g., extract from the commercial register or suitable proof of identity).
Arrange verification via your provider
Verification is carried out exclusively by your responsible provider. Only after successful confirmation will your domain data be considered properly verified.
Meet deadlines
If verification is not completed in a timely manner, your domain may be temporarily deactivated and deleted if there is no further response.
Methods of identity verification
Depending on the type of identification, e.g., ID card or passport, different methods are available for verifying identification data:
