Register a .de domain
How to register your new desired domain
Just a few steps to your own address.
Simple. Fast. Uncomplicated.
How it works
Consider your desired domain
- Think of a name for your domain.
- You can use letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), hyphens (-), and special characters for international domains (IDNs, such as ü, ß, etc.).
- A domain must be at least 1 and at most 63 characters long.
- A hyphen may not appear at the beginning, end, or in positions 3 and 4.
Check availability
Each .de domain can only exist once. Therefore, please use our domain search first to see if your desired name is still available.
Select provider
- You register your domain through a provider (registrar).
- Many providers also offer web space, email, or other services.
- Our member list can also help you choose a provider.
- Alternatively, you can register your domain directly through DENICdirect—but in this case, you must provide the technology (internet access and web space) yourself.
Register a domain
Registration is a binding contract, which means:
- You must have legal capacity and business competence.
- Your details as the domain owner must be correct and complete.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your domain does not infringe the rights of third parties (e.g., trademark or name rights).
The provider sends your request to DENIC. The relevant DENIC domain conditions apply to domain registration. The principle of “first come, first served” applies.
Provided that all requirements in accordance with the DENIC domain guidelines are met, you will receive confirmation as soon as the domain is registered. Your domain will then usually be available for use online within a few minutes.
Why having your own .de domain benefits you
- A .de domain looks professional and strengthens your brand or internet presence.
- Open to everyone—whether you are a private individual, association, or company, in Germany or abroad.
- With reliable technology (e.g., via a provider), your website and email can be accessed quickly.
