The .de domain is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Germany – recognizable by the last part of a web address, for example, the .de in denic.de.
The .de domain has been in existence since November 5, 1986. Since 1996, it has been administered by DENIC – a central non-profit organization that ensures that every .de domain can be accessed from anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds.
With over 17 million registered .de domains, .de ranks first among country-specific TLDs and is one of the most popular country extensions worldwide. .de is a strong digital address with a clear reference to Germany.

.de domains are available to everyone: whether you are a private individual, an association, a small business, or a corporation, whether you are based in Germany or abroad—.de domains are open to everyone for registration. The general requirement is that you must have legal capacity and full legal competence.
Registration of a .de domain is usually carried out via a DENIC member (provider or web host). Additional services such as web space and email are also available there.

Alternatively, a domain can also be managed through our DENICdirect service. However, this service does not offer any additional Internet services such as web space, email addresses, or name service.
The cost of a .de domain varies depending on the provider that registers and manages the domain. As a rule, it is around €5–15 per year for standard domains. Additional services such as web space or email are charged separately.
Premium domains are traded on domain marketplaces or auction platforms, and particularly short or highly sought-after domains can be significantly more expensive.
