Provider Transfer

Switch providers quickly and easily with the AuthInfo procedure

You decide who manages your domain

Every .de domain is managed by a provider or DENICdirect. As a domain holder, you can change your provider at any time. A provider transfer is carried out using our password-protected AuthInfo procedure. It ensures a quick and efficient transfer of the domain and guarantees that the domain remains accessible on the Internet.

How a provider transfer works with AuthInfo

  1. As the domain holder, you instruct your current provider to generate an AuthInfo (provider change password).
  2. The provider transmits the encrypted AuthInfo to DENIC and informs the domain holder of it.
  3. You inform your new provider of the AuthInfo.
  4. The new provider uses this AuthInfo to submit the change request to DENIC. If the AuthInfo matches, the domain is transferred immediately.
  1. Contact the new provider.
  2. They will request an AuthInfo for your domain directly from DENIC.
  3. DENIC will send you the AuthInfo by registered mail to the address stored in the domain data. At the same time, the hash will be stored.
  4. Give the AuthInfo to your new provider, who will initiate the provider change via DENIC. If everything matches, the domain will be transferred immediately.
