At the 59th General Assembly of the CENTR association held on 6 February in Zurich, Switzerland, DENIC CEO Dr. Jörg Schweiger was re-elected Chair of the Board of Directors.
Also re-elected were Pierre Bonis of the French registry, Afnic, and Irina Daniela of the Russian Coordination Center for the TLD RU/РФ as members of the Board. Further Board members are Elisabeth Ekstrand (IIS, .se) and Danko Jevtović (RNIDS, .rs/.СРБ).
"I look forward to continuing in this role to promote the close cooperation and the exchange of best practices among the CENTR members and to jointly work for common solutions," says Jörg Schweiger. "Holding this position at CENTR provides a good opportunity for DENIC to stay actively involved in shaping the future evolution of the Internet as an open and free medium and to exert an influence with regard to focal European issues."
CENTR (Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries) is a not-for-profit association of mainly European ccTLD registries (that is domain registries of country codes such as .de). CENTR sees itself as a forum for developing the highest standards for ccTLD management to the benefit of the entire Internet community.
