Registry management and name service are DENIC’s core competences. Since 1997, DENIC has operated one of the largest country-targeted Top Level Domain worldwide, the German extension .de. Today, the German namespace on the Internet includes more than 17 million .de domains. DENIC offers parts of its global DNS network to third-party TLD operators for shared use in form of anycast slave services. Anycast customers benefit from reduced response times, capacity reserves for load peaks and considerably enhanced resilience in case of server outages or attacks.

The name server locations we make available under this scheme are dispersed across Europe, North and South America, Australia, South Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. Situated close to major Internet exchange points, they use high bandwidths, support IPv6 and are fully DNSSEC-enabled. It is a matter of course that we have implemented information security and business continuity management systems that are certified pursuant to the international standards ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 22301:2012. Regardless if used as a primary service or as a complement to existing nameserver landscapes, the footprint, diversity and robustness can be increased.
