The Speakers

Marcos Sanz Grossón is head of DENIC's Software Engineering Department and has been working at DENIC for more than ten years. As early as 2001, he accompanied a study about the feasibility of introducing DNSSEC in Germany and was involved in the subsequent revision of the DNSSEC standards in the IETF.

Peter Koch studied computer sciences and worked as research assistant before he joined DENIC in 2005. As the Senior Researcher of DENIC the focus of his work lies on protocol development, in particular DNS, ENUM and IPv6, as well as on data analysis and security of the Internet infrastructure. Since many years he has been involved in international bodies – e.g. with regard to the standardization of DNSSEC.

Florian Obser studied computer sciences, mathematic and electrical engineering. Since 2006 he has been employed as software developer and system administrator by Hostserver GmbH. His main focuses of work are BGP, OSPF and redundant load balancer/cluster systems and the development and administration of a multi-TLD registry interface. This is the reason why he originally got and still is involved in DNSSEC.

Bernhard Schmidt has been into planning and operation of (provider) networks since 2001. Since he started his studies in 2004, he has been a member of the network planning group of the Leibniz data center and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. Here, one of his tasks is the operation of the DNS environment.

Following his graduation as computer scientist, Thorsten Dietrich worked several years with Triaton GmbH as project manager in the field of IT security. Since July 2005, he has been employed by the Federal Agency for Security in Information Technology (BSI) as head of the Internet security division, his main responsibility being the security of Internet protocols and of providers.

Martin Duzy, who holds a university degree in computer sciences, has been working in the field of Internetworking at AVM since 1996. Here, he initially developed product-related solutions for server-based routing/proxy. Since 2003 he is a member of the FRITZ!Box development team. The focuses of his work are UPnP, webserver and Internet access solutions for providers.

Carsten Strotmann has been involved in issues related to security on the Internet, in particular in the fields of DNS (DNSSEC), DHCP and IPv6 for more than 15 years. In his function of consultant and trainer of the Icelandic company Firma Men & Mice he supports Unix and Windows networks projects of international companies and organizations which aim at making DNS and IP infrastructure more efficient.

Volker Janzen has a university degree in computer sciences and has been employed by InterNetX GmbH in Regensburg as senior developer since 2006. One of his tasks is the connection of InterNetX's systems to the various registries. Within this context, he has developed the concept for DNSSEC support by the AutoDNS domain administration software.

Ralf Weber, member of the Technical Advisory Board of DENIC, started his professional career at RZ-Online/Kevag Telekom in 1994 before he changed to Colt Telecom in 1998. At Colt Telecom he was responsible for the engineering of all DNS systems throughout Europe. Since 2010 Ralf Weber is senior infrastructure architect at Nominum Inc. and in this function responsible for the architecture of the DNS services. In addition to that, he supports product development in the field of DNSSEC.

Samuel Benz studied electrical engineering at Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Since 2000, he has been employed as software engineer by the Swiss domain registry SWITCH in the Internet domains division. At present, he is responsible for coordinating the introduction of DNSSEC under .ch.
