The Procedure
The Launch of the DNSSEC testbed took place on 2 July 2009 in Frankfurt am Main in the offices of DENIC. As to the course of actions and events, the parties in charge of the DNSSEC testbed have decided the following schedule:
- Establishing a long-term discussion panel, which will enable all parties involved to communicate with one another
- Adoption of common target agreement in which all parties involved commit themselves to actively support a DNSSEC testbed
- Setting up a DNSSEC testbed for Internet providers and users in Germany
- Documentation and accompanying monitoring of the testbed
- Preparation of a joint final report and adoption of a recommendation for further actions, if appropriate.
Redirection in Relation with the DNSSEC Testbed
The diagram below illustrates how the configuration of a resolver participating in the DNSSEC testbed will affect the name resolution under the top level domain DE.
Instead of the official name servers communicated by the root zone (published on the root name servers) the resolver will consult the dedicated testbed systems. For all other targets, the delegation path will be followed.
